First day of on the grass diet
God know how long it has been since I lived without a single bite of meat in a day, but I am proud to say I have gotten over the first day on vege. Although there is a sudden feeling of hunger lingering in my stomach as I mention this. Despite spending 45 minutes at the dinner table trying to eat as much salad, beans as I could.
What this experience teaches mean is really the power of focus,...
Things I can leave without
As I dive deeper into the book Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, I soon realised a there are lot of things in life which we don’t really need. Jobs managed to live in a modest home despite being the top 100 wealthiest man in the world, and one philosophy I admire is he was able to follow his passion instead of driving for profit while running Apple.
This week I am going to live without:
TV,...

How not to use Powerpoint
Way too often, we try to squeeze in 40 slide decks into a 20 minutes presentations, let’s stop killing others by wasting time on these presentations that no one remembers. Get to the point!
So here is my take, often we have too many slides into a pitch or a presentation without a proper thought process. So we use too much vanilla to fluff up our deck. Fancy diagrams, hundreds of words, and...

Straterday mind note
I went to Straterday by Mark Pollard this month, he is one of my favourite strategist in lately. Back in the 90s, he started Stealth magazine, and now finishing up his role as strategy director at UM and off to New York in May, and I wish him the best of luck. You can find a bit more about him here: The session was insightful with lots of learnings, so I like to share it with you more...

Thanks Nicole
Today one of our publishers took us out to lunch. It was this Korean BBQ place on Little Burke. One Friday night Stanley and I stumbled into this place, and liked it.
But this time, the food was pretty much a let down, and sadly Nicole waited half an hour before her meal had arrived.
We were almost seen as some kind of aliens as all of the other people who come here speak Korean. So it was...

A new way of looking at targeting in Media.
Too often media planners follow the simply demographic profiles to plan our advertising campaigns. With social media and other online places, perphaps it’s time to focus on the content and interests instead.

Back in the tram City
Yeah, I am seeing trams again. Melbourne is a great city to be, it’s full course meal for the eyes. After being here for a week, I really could get use to this. Arts, culture, people, that’s would be enough to sacrifice a bit of sunshine back in Perth.
And I get to work at MediaCom, following eyeballs all day, it’s what I have been trying to get into all year. Everyone is very...

See the trams through my eyes
To me, trams lives in the 80s. I remember seeing the old tram rails being removed while I was 4 years old. Well, that was in the old city Shenyang I grew up in. Today, the trams still is very well alive in Melbourne, and they are just resilient soldiers living in this digital age.
Walking around Melbourne, the sound of trams ring close to my heart. Mixing along with the crowded city noise. It...
We are watching Internet.
People are too used to the concept of watching, we often forgot to engage on the WWW.
Yet that is the key for us to be heard, to voice our opinions, which lead to more discussion. The Voice of individuals have so much powerful compared 15 years ago.
So start blogging about your favorite subject.
Will technology change business?
It’s really simple, technology is just a way of life. Business is about word of mouth, and customer service. Back in the days, word of mouth used to be a press release or a recommendation on Oprah, or even your co-workers. Today, the media land scape has changed, and will continue to change. You are more likely to listen to someone from an internet forum rather than your friend. Content,...

My big rant of the day
The more you embrace your strength, the further you are going to go. Be you, if you are structured, the be structured. If you are passionate, be passionate. The more you love yourself, the happier you will feel.
Today’s age is growing so fast, that we have so many opportunities around us. Life is too short to be earning 60 thousand dollars a year and hating your Mondays.
Content is the King, and marketing is the Queen, and she runs the house.

I found these tips from the Digital Ministry website, it was written by Adam Franklin from Bluewire Media.I thought I will share it with you and I.
1 Write your cover letter from scratch, make sure you use words like YOU, YOUR, instead of I and My. Proofread it, so there are not mistakes.
2 Have a really simple resume, one page only. People at digital agency are busy people, so get to the...

Good on you paul
I was just shopping around for a carry bag today. All of the sudden I bumped into one of my old Myer Managers. He is around my age, so while I was at Myer, I got along with him very well. The interesting news is that he has just resigned from Myer. He just couldn’t take it anymore, mostly the attitude and atmosphere.
I kind of miss it since I quit that place early this year. I miss the fact...

My First MacBook Pro
Isn’t it nice when things just work! No more waiting around in Internet Explorer, no more Viruses, and no more boxes to tell you “this program is not responding”. It’s just plain old simple, I can finally use my computer. Thanks to the new MacBook Pro and the impressive OS x. Comparing to my old Dell XPS which had impressive figures. It is simply a world of difference....
